Deforestation Dress
This dress was created in response to the idea of mitigation in regards to climate change; the act of reducing the severity or painfulness of our changing environment. Deforestation is a major cause to climate change for it adds more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere than the sum total of cars and trucks on the roads. Instead of planting and growing plants and trees, many people choose to buy fake trees and faux flowers to decorate their home and yard. I believe people have become disconnected with the natural world and no longer understand the health and environmental benefits of real plants.
This dress was constructed by piecing together white fabrics with real leaves in between. Faux leaves were then applied on top, along with neon green fabric paint. Fall 2017
